On the instructions of Punjab Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, the Punjab Agriculture Department has further tightened the crackdown against the elements involved in the nefarious business of fake fertilizers to ensure the availability of quality fertilizers and protect the interests of farmers. The zero tolerance policy is being strictly implemented against the elements involved in the business of fake fertilizers by further accelerating the monitoring process across the province.
According to the spokesperson, economic exploitation of farmers through fake fertilizers will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Actions are being taken against those involved in the nefarious business of fake fertilizers across the province. In this regard, the Assistant Director of Agriculture Extension Vehari, acting under the leadership of Director General Agriculture Extension Abdul Hameed, raided the fake fertilizer factory and recovered the raw material of 870 bags of fake DAP from the spot.
In addition, empty bags and packing materials of various companies were seized. Fake goods worth Rs. 5.5 lakh were seized from the spot and a case was handed over to the police as a case of property. An FIR was registered against the accused at Sadar Vehari Police Station. The Assistant Fertilizer Controller obtained samples of fake fertilizers from the spot and sent them to the laboratory for chemical analysis. A case was registered against 4 accused at Sadar Vehari Police Station on the complaint of Assistant Fertilizer Controller Mazhar Kaleem, including the names of accused Mian Muhammad Naveed, Rana Muhammad Ahsan, Mehboob Ali and Rao Hashim. Out of these, 2 accused Mehboob Ali and Rao Hashim were arrested from the spot.
