Agricultural experts have said that Pakistan spends more than 350 billion rupees on the production of edible oil every year to meet its nutritional needs. This was said in a statement by the experts of Agricultural University of Faisalabad.
He said that Pakistan produces about 14 percent of the country’s total requirement of edible oil, while the remaining 86 percent is imported by spending a lot of foreign exchange. Spending billions of rupees on the import of oil every year is putting a burden on the country’s economy. He said that Among the oilseeds, the sunflower crop has a special importance because its seeds contain up to 42% oil content and 24% pulp content.
He said that this oil is useful for human health in general and for heart patients in particular, and sunflower oil can be extracted from a common crusher and cleaned at home. He said that sunflower has a short duration. , and matures in a short period of 110 to 130 days, two crops can be grown in a year.
